So you had too much fun this weekend and skipped your planned workout or did not work hard enough?
Also, you may have had a bit much to eat or drink…don’t worry, a good cardio session is the way to start a new, fresh and healthy week. If you dread the thought of a cardio workout why don’t you try the following interval increments on multiple pieces equipment to overcome boredom? (If you do not have access to all this equipment you can alternate between fewer machines, or include segments of running in place, jumping jacks, jump rope, push-ups and anything that will break a good sweat).
10-minute elliptical: Vary your speed from a comfortable to a more challenging pace every 3 minutes and during the last minute go all out (3+3+3+1)
10-minute treadmill: depending on your fitness level choose to walk or run. Alternate your speed every 2 minutes from a moderate pace to very hard. For those walking increase the incline to make the walk challenging! (2+2+2+2+2)
10-minute Stair-master: Vary speeds from a comfortable to a more challenging pace every 3 minutes and during the last minute go all out (3+3+3+1)
10-minute treadmill: Return to the treadmill to walk or run (depending on your fitness level) at one steady moderate pace but keep your incline at 7% or higher.
10-minute bike: Alternate from hills to flat terrain every 2 minutes for a heart pumping sweat! (2+2+2+2+2)
As you do these exercise do not read a book, or try to read the prompts on TV- not only is it less safe, but also you may compromise the intensity and focus on the exercise making it much less effective – focus completely on your workout with some good music on your ears to keep you excited and ready for that SWEAT! You’ll se the 10-minute increments will fly by…
Stretch for 10 minutes all the muscles in your legs!
